Abstract

Diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans are called zoonoses. Wildlife and pets play the role of maintaining the infection in nature being natural reservoirs. Transmission of pathogens from wildlife or livestock to individuals or human populations via vectors is a consequence of the ecorelationship we have with wildlife and the environment. Ecological elements of some zoonotic diseases such as Leptospirosis, Chagas, and fasciolasis are reviewed, which serve as examples to demonstrate the close relationship between ecology and pathogens agents that produce zoonotic diseases.
