Due to the different problems of pavements in Colombia and willing to contribute to the knowledge on this issue, the research center CITEC at Universidad de los Andes has developed a circular test track. At the present time this equipment is in a preliminary testing stage and the objective, at the center, is to set the proper instrumentation, which can be based on two types of systems. These systems allow the measurement of deformations, strains, temperatures, humidity and other characteristics of each layer in the pavement structure. The final purpose of the circular test track is to permit researchers to be able to backup and improve the existing design methods of pavements.
