It is estimated that cohesive soils are present in about 80% of the Cuban territory. Most of these soils are preconsolidated as a result of the country’s geo-environmental conditions. That’s why it is important, in the Cuban context, to determine accurately the soil preconsolidation load, correct the oedometric curve and apply these concepts to settlement computation. In this paper, a study is presented to define how to estimate the preconsolidation pressure by using several methods. A database was created. It consisted of 102 preconsolidated soils, which are typical from the central region of Cuba. These soils were analyzed by several Cuban geotechnical research centers.
