University dropout is a critical phenomenon that affects students in various disciplines, including aeronautics. This study was conducted to understand the work expectations of students at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, focusing on how age, semester enrolled, and interest in certification influence these expectations. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design was adopted, using a sample of 137 randomly selected students who completed a questionnaire. The results determined that the standardized coefficients for age (B = 0.011; p = 0.545) and semester enrolled (B = -0.014; p = 0.493) showed no statistically significant relationship with work expectations, suggesting that these factors are not determining in the students' perception of their professional future. In contrast, certification shows a significant positive coefficient (B = 0.466; p < 0.001), indicating that certification is an essential factor. Furthermore, there are no significant differences in work expectations between men and women (t = -0.822; p = 0.412). In conclusion, the importance of certification as a complement to professional development is emphasized, while age, semester enrolled, and gender appear to be less relevant.
