This paper describes new scientific visualization techniques related to the representation of scalar discrete data. The scientific visualization of continuos scalar data is currently widely used. The advent of new formulations based on particles or point clouds as the Discrete Element Method, Free Mesh Methods and some more traditional such as the Finite Point Method, Finite Volume, among others, has made possible a better analysis of structures, material and their behavior, specifically in the area of engineering. The presented techniques can be considered as a modification to the little known scientific visualization technique: tiny polygon; the innovation can be appreciated when interpreting the resulting image. These techniques can be applied not only to data obtained from the methods above mentioned, but to results from any method capable of generating scalar discrete data that could be mixed with continuous scalar data. In implementing the scientific visualization techniques presented in this paper cuaterniones are used for generating the figures that will be displayed. Moreover, one of the approaches to the nearest neighbor problem is employed for improving the computational complexity. Also it is discussed the impact of the techniques to obtain information from the final image.
