A journey through the anthropology of war in indigenous cultures of the Amazon region, this article studies the anthropophagi attributed to them, making clear the magnitude and reasons of this practice in the zone. It analyzes travel reports and anthropological studies to explain the different meanings of this practice given by the natives, as well as the complex relation they established between the killer and the devoured enemy.
