dc.description.abstractThe goal of the work is to characterize the engine gas exchange process by calculating the discharge coefficient across the admission valve of a CFR spark ignition engine. The mass flow rate for different valve lifts and upstream pressures was measured in a flow bench using the AVL method. As a result it was found a maximum discharge coefficient for a 0.5 mm lift no matter which value takes the static pressure upstream. One important conclusion of the research is that mass flow across the intake valve has a strong dependence on valve lift.
