Autoestima y afrontamiento en estudiantes de sexto de secundaria de la ciudad de Sucre

Abstract

La presente investigación estudia la relación entre autoestima y afrontamiento en una muestra de 450 estudiantes de sexto de secundaria de las Unidades Educativas de la ciudad de Sucre, seleccionadas aleatoriamente. La autoestima se evalúa con la Escala de Autoestima de Rosemberg (EAR) y los estilos y estrategias de afrontamiento con la Escala de Afrontamiento de Frydenberg y Lewis (ACS). Los resultados mostraron que el 53% de los estudiantes tienen un nivel alto de autoestima, 33% un nivel medio y el 13 un nivel bajo. Existen diferencias significativas en el afrontamiento de hombres y mujeres, los hombres emplean más el estilo de afrontamiento dirigido a la resolución del problema, mientras que las mujeres utilizan más los estilos de afrontamiento en relación con los demás e improductivo. | The present research studies the relationship between self-esteem and coping in a sample of 450 students of sixth grade of secondary school in the Educational Units of the city of Sucre, selected at random. Self-esteem is assessed with the Rosemberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSS) and coping styles and strategies with the Frydenberg and Lewis Coping Scale (LCS). The results showed that 53% of the students have a high level of self-esteem, 33% a medium level and 13 % a low level. There are significant differences in men's and women's coping, with men using more problem-oriented coping styles, while women using more relative and unproductive coping styles. | Capítulo 1.
