Relación entre la autoestima y la actitud hacia la Investigación en estudiantes de Ingeniería Ambiental de una Universidad Peruana en tiempos de Pandemia

Abstract

La pandemia provocada por la Covid-19 ha dejado estragos en la educación superior universitaria y en la salud mental de los estudiantes, debido a los repentinos cambios que trajo consigo. La virtualidad representó en su momento un enorme retroceso en la educación debido a la falta de planificación que se tenía ante un evento de tal magnitud, dificultando la tarea de los docentes y estudiantes. La presente investigación tuvo como finalidad identificar una posible relación entre la autoestima y la actitud hacia la investigación de estudiantes de una universidad peruana en tiempos de pandemia. Se empleó una muestra de 163 estudiantes. La técnica fue la encuesta y se utilizaron como instrumentos el Inventario de autoestima de Coopersmith adaptado por Lachira (2014) y; la Escala basada en la teorización de Quezada et al. (2019) adaptada por Loza (2021). Los resultados evidenciaron la existencia de una relación significativa y positiva media entre la autoestima y la actitud hacia la investigación en la muestra de estudio (rs=,333; p<0,000), lo que reflexionar sobre la importancia de la salud mental de los estudiantes universitarios, quienes se han visto conmocionados por la pandemia, viendo mermada también su actitud hacia la investigación.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left havoc on university higher education and the mental health of students due to the sudden changes it brought with it. At that moment, virtuality represented a huge setback in education due to the lack of planning in the face of an event of such magnitude, making the task of teachers and students difficult. The purpose of this research was to identify a possible relationship between self-esteem and the attitude towards research of students from a Peruvian university during the pandemic. A sample of 163 students was used. The technique was the survey, implementing the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory adapted by Lachira (2014) and the Scale based on the theory of Quezada et al. (2019) adapted by Loza (2021). The results showed a significant and medium- positive relationship between self-esteem and attitude toward research in the study sample (rs=.333; p<0,000), reflecting on the importance of the students' mental health. University students, shocked by the pandemic, also see their attitude towards research diminished.
