dc.description.abstractA new era is arising due to Information Technology dynamism. In such environment new business models are emerging generating new pressures for higher education institutions, which must prepare professionals, technicians and top-Ievel executives to face this challenge. Results of an exploratory research, conducted in different industries of Mexico, are used as reference to address some considerations that could be useful when designing and implementing educational programs in Electronic Commerce. Results present evidence regarding the need of educational programs on the matter at different levels, oriented to create an organizational culture that enables adaptation to the new technological environment, and to the development of knowledge and skills required for the value chain management. The research suggests that the response rate of the higher education institutions should match the dynamics of the technological
