La historia indígena en Santa Cruz: usos, abusos y enseñanzas
Abstract
Resumen: Olvidada o despreciada por mucho tiempo, la historia indígena empezó a posicionarse con fuerza en Santa Cruz durante las últimas décadas. Sin embargo, suele ser objeto de una instrumentalización ideológica que sólo "tritura" el pasado para oponer una identidad "camba" u oriental a otra andina. En contraposición, las investigaciones más profesionales evidencian la diversidad étnica de Santa Cruz, sus lazos con regiones y países vecinos y una historia compartida entre indígenas y criollos que constituye la verdadera riqueza cultural e histórica de la región.
Abstract: Long forgotten or even scorned, indigenous history has begun to gain a strong foothold in Santa Cruz de la Sierra during the last decades. However, this regional history is often the object of an ideological instrumentalisation that "shreds" the past in order to oppose a "Camba" or Eastern identity with an Andean one. On the contrary, professional research reveals the ethnic diversity of Santa Cruz, its significant links with neighbouring regions and countries, and the shared history between several indigenous peoples and Creoles, which constitute the true cultural and historical richness of the region.
