Trade-off ou complementariedade entre C&T? Uma análise do papel do laboratório na conexão das redes de coinvenção e coautoria dos pesquisadores

Abstract

Our research adds a contribution to the literature by investigating how the participation in different types of research laboratories is associated to the importance that scientists have in their scientific and technological collaboration networks, and the extent of overlap between the two networks conditioned to the participation in these laboratories. We used a nationwide database for 1,756 Brazilian public research laboratories classified in five categories, whose differences are concentrated in the composition of the personnel structure and in the scope of activities performed in laboratories. We combine data from patent co-authorship and scientific co-authorship of 455 authors-inventors linked to the laboratories and we estimated how the participation in different categories of laboratories is related to their betweenness, eigenvector and closeness centralities in both networks.
