¿Qué circunstancias y factores intervinieron para que Joseph Haydn, campesino considerado uno de los pilares del clasicismo musical, padre de la sinfonía y uno de los grandes compositores de música, fuera el músico de un principado del imperio austriaco? El análisis tendrá un tratamiento doble: en su generalidad se verá la relación Estado, sociedad, música y, en su especificidad, se verá la relación social cortesana expresada en el poder del Príncipe Esterházy y un súbdito de la Corte, F. J. Haydn, Maestro de Capilla encargado de hacer la música.
