Abstract

People long to give meaning to their lives and strive to discover values worth living. Within the penitentiary center, its perception can be influenced by various factors such as: interpersonal relationships, educational and work opportunities. The objective is to analyze the meaning of life, motivations and decision-making in women deprived of liberty during this phase. This research follows a quantitative and descriptive approach, aimed at collecting information and describing the phenomenon. The main results of the research show that despite being deprived of liberty in the San Sebastián Mujeres penitentiary center, the majority of women show a stable sense of life, addressing problems independently and seeking autonomy. Likewise, they highlight the importance of family, study and work to return to goals. A duality is also observed in the affective and cognitive responses, highlighting the connection with the family as crucial; the willingness to change at a behavioral level and the need to establish meaningful goals
