Cincuenta años de gestión del patrimonio cultural en Bolivia

Abstract

Trabajo dedicado a realizar un examen amplio y exhaustivo de la situación del patrimonio cultural de Bolivia. Luego de repasar el aparato conceptual respectivo, el concepto de patrimonio cultural, en toda su complejidad, y los tipos de patrimonio (material, inmaterial, artístico, histórico), describe la importancia de la gestión cultural y sus alcances prácticos, examinando el desempeño en el país tanto de la gestión estatal como de la privada y la participación de la sociedad civil. Lo mismo hace con la legislación internacional y nacional que rige la materia actualmente. Finalmente, se examina la situación de los varios patrimonios bolivianos de la humanidad, sus planes de manejo y las medidas de salvaguardia respectivos, y cómo el Estado boliviano y la sociedad civil han conseguido en las últimas décadas asegurar y difundir el gran patrimonio de diversa índole que posee el país, no sin señalar además las tareas pendientes.This article unfolds a broad and thorough examination over cultural heritage in Bolivia. After reviewing concepts related to cultural heritage hollistically and types of heritage (material, non material, artistic, historical), the author describes the importance of cultural management and its practical scope in Bolivia. So he goes through state practices as well as private and civil society activities in this field. In a similar way, he reviews international and national law concerning the matter nowadays. Finally there is an assessment of the situation of the several sites declared cultural heritage of Humanity, the plans for their management and how are they taken care of. Bolivian government and civil society actions to ensure and promote heritage of various kinds in the country are also stated, along with pending tasks.
