dc.description.abstractInternal root resorption (IRR) is generally an asymptomatic pathologyassociated with traumatisms and dental pulp severe infections, in which clastic cells destroy the internal root canal dentinal walls. It is radiographically observed as a radiolucent area in the root canal. The treatment of choice can vary among endodontic therapy, surgical therapy, or even the combination of both.The endodontic therapy’s aim is to eliminate the granulation tissue and the bacteria existing in the root canal and in the defect area. Therefore, it is important to consider the physical and chemical properties of the obturation material, which has to guarantee a proper sealing and to possess antimicrobial effects.Some of the obturation materials are calcium hydroxide (Sealapex®) and MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate); the choice depends on the dentist’s preference.The present paper aimed to explain the endodontic treatment of two cases of IRR, using Sealapex® as obturation material and gutta-percha (lateral compaction technique). In both cases, the clinical and radiographic follow-ups showed a successful treatment of the IRR, using this obturation material and this technique for obturating.
