From the mid-fifteenth century, different Spanish scholarly groups gathered under the name of «academies». They were growing interest thanks to the argumentative text prior to the debate they generated. One of the most well-known groups, mostly because of the name of some of the participants and the high quality of the texts presented, was the Academia de Nocturnos of Valencia (1591-1594). Its members met once per week for reading poetry or discussing essays, reviews, etc. In its three years’ life, the Academia de Nocturnos of Valencia held a total of 88 sessions presenting 805 verse compositions and 88 prose speeches. This paper tries to classify those 88 prose speeches and analyze which themes predominated.
