BÚSQUEDA DE LA COMPONENTE DE ALTA ENERGÍA DE DESTELLOS DE RAYOS GAMMA (GRB) CON EL EXPERIMENTO INCA II

Abstract

INCA II es un experimento que emplea los detectores del arreglo BASJE (Bolivian Air Shower Joint Experiment) situado en el monte Chacaltaya, Bolivia. INCA II opera desde septiembre de 2009 y emplea la técnica de las párticulas individuales para la búsqueda y estudio de destellos de rayos gamma (GRB) en el rango de energías de 1GeV a un 1TeV. En este trabajo se muestran los resultados de simulaciones para la determinación de la sensibilidad del experimento a la detección del los GRB, así como el análisis de datos para el estudio de estabilidad de los detectores; además se realiza la búsqueda de alguna significancia estadística en los registros debido a algún evento registrado por los satélites. Finalmente se calcula el límite superior de la fluencia de la energía de GRB para que éstos puedan ser detectados.

INCA II is an experiment that uses the detectors of the BASJE project (Bolivian Air Shower Joint Experiment) located at Mount Chacaltaya, Bolivia. INCA II has been running since September 2009 and employs the single-particle technique for the search and study of gamma ray bursts (GRB) in the energy interval 1GeV−1TeV. In this work we show the results of the simulations for determining the sensitivity of this experiment to detect GRB, as well as the data analysis of the detectors stability. We also look for some statistical significance of data registered by the satellites due to some event or other activity. Finally, we calculate the energy fluence upper limit of GRB so that they can be detected.
