Rubio is located at the Southwest of Venezuela and is the capital of the Junin municipality (county) of Tachira. The urbe is known by its geographic position in the Andean border between Colombia and Venezuela and it is just one of the most active and dynamic border corridors or border passages between these countries and has become one of the shared spaces where nature has imprinted singular conditions that have allowed particular productive and commercial activities in the region. This work is the result of research and teaching activities in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Universidad Pedagogica Experimental Libertador (UPEL) located in the Pedagogical and Rural Institute “Gervasio Rubio” (IPRGR, as in Spanish); especially in geography and borders. It is also the result of a documental and ? eld research, consisting in theoretical and practical reviews to describe, interpret and characterize the physical geography, especially the geological and geomorphological, aspects of the so called “Ciudad Pontalida del Tachira” (city with many bridges). Finally, the information in this article provides resources that can be used both as a source of future research and as a teaching resource.
