For the section I catalyst bed layer of powdering and scaling, the resistance of converter quickly increases in a 600 kt /a SA plant by sulfur-burning,the operation has to frequently stop for screening of catalyst.Based on analysis of the technology, equipment, operations and other aspects, the basic reason of increased resistance are small diaphragm open porosity in the section I catalyst bed layer of the converter, and higher gas velocity(4.95 m /s).After increasing diaphragm open porosity, the gas velocity decreases to 2.56 m /s,the section I catalyst bed layer resistance of the converter is stable.
