Abstract
Community education is the oldest form of education; however, under the colonial, capitalist and neoliberal regimes, the indigenous nations were denied their rights for a relevant education, one that is based on their worldview and culture. En recent decades, various indigenous nations have developed their own models of community education. This article presents a panorama of successful models in various countries of the world and discusses with some detail the community education in the Kallawaya Nation of the north of La Paz, Bolivia.
