dc.description.abstractWood anatomy of 87 species from 35 families growing in Units II and IV of Ticoporo Forest Reserve (Barinas, Venezuela) is presented. Description was made according IAWA Committee (1989). Species studied are grouped according identification features presented by Wheeler & Baas (1998). A dichotomous key that allows the separation of 75 out of 87 species (86,21 %) is presented. Species that can not be identified show taxonomic affinity at the genus, family or order level. Additionaly to Wheeler & Baas (1998) features, the presence of minerals inclusions (crystals, silica) and some features of fibers (septate fibers, pits type) are useful for identification. Considering uncommon species with Caparo Forest Reserve (Leon 2012), we have descriptions and identification information for 126 speciesfrom Venezuelan western plain lands.
