The school - a human creation; the most ideal of all dreams; the world of learning; where children and adolescents develop intellectually, socially, affectively, emotionally, cognitively, morally and physically - has become a cold and formal institution, too weak and limited to achieve its goals. The weaknesses and limitations of the school are explicable as a consequence both of its separation from the community it serves, and of neglect on the part of state and society. Its possibilities can be realized if it takes responsibility for coordinating what can be offered by social institutions, organizations, groups and individuals, whose activities are connected with education, thereby creating an educational environment of which the school is a part. Society still hopes that the new generation will be better educated than its predecessor.
