This article seeks to explore the reading made by Raymond Aron of Machiavelli's works before and \nduring the Second War. Aron proposes an original reading of Florentino's work, in order to illuminate \nthe European situation in the 1930s. Thus, he believes that Machiavelli's reading - and what he \nunderstands as Machiavellianism - can be especially useful for understanding the emergence of the \ntotalitarian phenomenon, and fighting against it, an issue that leads him to discuss with Jacques \nMaritain.
