Abstract The essential oil of the aerial parts of Zanthoxylum coco (Rutaceae) from Bolivia was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The oil was characterized by a high percentage of santolinatriene (≈ 28%) and monoterpene derivatives: α- and β-pinenes (≈ 5% each). The other compounds belong to the monoterpene (≈ 5.7%), sesquiterpene (≈ 5%) and oxygenated sesquiterpene (≈ 3%) group.
