Evolución histórica y actualidad de los tatuajes

Abstract

Los tatuajes han acompañado a la humanidad en casi todas las culturas y épocas. Este artículo pretende construir una revisión narrativa de la literatura científica sobre evolución histórica del simbolismo, perspectiva social y tendencias actuales de los tatuajes, incluyendo un análisis de sus riesgos sanitarios. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sobre el tema en bases de datos de literatura científica como Google Scholar y PubMed. Como resultado, se encontró que, a lo largo de la historia, los tatuajes han pasado de ser representaciones sociales o religiosas a ser un símbolo personal en la era moderna, en la que su uso se ha extendido en casi todos los estratos sociales debido a la creciente tendencia de modificaciones corporales. Sin embargo, los tatuajes se plasman para el resto de la vida del individuo y no existe una regulación sanitaria efectiva, por lo que existen riesgos al momento de obtener uno

Tattoos have accompanied humanity in almost all cultures and times. This article aims to build a narrative review of the scientific literature on the historical evolution of symbolism, social perspective, and current trends in tattoos, including an analysis of their health risks. For this, a bibliographic search on the subject was carried out in scientific literature databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed. As a result, it was found that, throughout history tattoos have gone from being social or religious representations to being a personal symbol in the modern era, in which their use has spread to almost all social strata due to the growing trend of body modifications.
