Escritura En Humanidades Digitales Para América Latina - Event Archive

Abstract

This Event Archive contains various documents and media surrounding the 3-day writing workshop, "Escritura en humanidades digitales para América Latina, held in Bogotá, Colombia from 1-3 August 2018. The event was the first held by the <em>Programming Historian</em> (http://programminghistorian.org) in a Latin American venue, and was an initiative to build the digital humanities community in Latin America, as well as to lead to some of the first Spanish-language digital humanities lessons written by Spanish native speakers. The workshop was funded by the British Academy, and supported by the Universities of Hertfordshire (UK) and de los Andes (Colombia). It was run by Drs Adam Crymble (University of Hertfordshire), Maria José Afanador Llach (Universidad de los Andes) and José Antonio Motilla (Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí), all editors of the <em>Programming Historian</em>. It was attended by 22 scholars from 10 countries in North and South America. Participants were given training in writing for a global audience, writing digital humanities tutorials, and building collaborations. They then devoted the remainder of the workshop to writing a digital humanities tutorial on an area related to their work. They were given opportunities for individual feedback from editors. We hope that this archive of the event proves useful for future event organisers seeking to hold similar workshops. Materials are variously in English and Spanish, depending upon the original audience.
