This article offers information on the general conditions that weakened the colonial power and institutions of the province of Guayana, the first decades of the 19th century; and the incidence of this unfavorable situation for the benefit of the military plans and objectives that in 1817 allowed the republican liberation and occupation of southern Venezuela. In this context, the continental geopolitical repercussions of this military act are analyzed, in favor of the South American emancipatory process, as well as for the concretion of the ideas of American integration defended by Simon Bolivar.
