Abstract
Summary.
Platelet functions and coagulation values of High Altitude (H.A.) residents 3.600 m.) were compared to sea level values. Highlanders are characterized by:
- a thrombocytosis which is an adaptatif phenomenon
- a platelet hypoagregability and a stability in the level of coagulation factors which can be considered as a consequence of chronic hypoxia as well as other environmental factors mainly nutritional factors.
New comers to H.A. present a platelet hyperagregabillity and an hyper coagulability which are explained as acclimatatif phenomenon perhaps of adrenergic origin.
