Abstract

This paper presents a method for Wind Farms and Photovoltaic System future projects analysis and integration capacity deduction in Weak Power Systems. In weak power systems, Wind Farms or Photovoltaic Systems produces four main effects: power flow fluctuation in transmission networks, decreasing voltage regulation, decreasing primary frequency regulation and power system global inertia reduction. Wind Farms and Photovoltaic power output produces fluctuations in power flows of transmission networks and short circuit power reduction, have no obligations in primary frequency regulation and new technologies applied in wind farms are Full Converter, which means without rotating masses coupled to the grid. These effects produce a power system reliability reduction. In this article, a method for weak power system static and stability analysis, considering Wind Farms and Photovoltaic Systems, is proposed. The proposed method have been validated using a real power system of Bolivia; and, analysis of obtained results shows suitable agreement with other analysis performed in power systems of countries of Latino America (LA).
