Abstract
Bournout syndrome is a response to chronic stress, which is considered a public health problem because it is becoming increasingly common. Apparently workers prevails in the health area generating fatigue solve health problems. In dentistry it is uncertain whether this is a common condition among this community. The aim was to describe the frequency of burnout syndrome among students and teachers of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Andes. To this descriptive research field considered 4th year 50 students and five dentists who participated voluntarily, who were administered the Maslach Burnout Inventory for professionals and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-student Survery student as data collection instruments to diagnose Burnout. The resulting data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in SPSS. The results demonstrate for the subscale of emotional exhaustion and fatigue frequency is unequally as for students frequent middle level and professionals is low. However, cynicism and depersonalization dimension frequency is at the same level, low, just as occurs in the category of academic effectiveness and personal fulfillment frequently found levels are low. We conclude dental students we reported higher levels of burnout syndrome than professionals
