Alteraciones causadas por uso del piercing bucal: artículo de revisión.
Abstract
Among the intended modifications that may affect the oral cavity is the use of oral piercing, which can be placed in the tongue, lips, cheeks, bridle or uvula. This practice involves the drilling of soft tissue to insert an object that may be: labrette, barbell, and / or rings. That situation has led to cause many problems and diseases of the oral cavity because of short and long term consequences. The aim of the present paper is to determine the changes that cause the use of oral piercing. It is product of an extensive literature review on changes caused to the tooth, the functional alterations and alterations of soft tissues. It is considered that the dentist should warn patients about the adverse effects that can cause oral piercing, as long as every day the fashion of inserting foreign objects into the oral cavity is getting stronger.
