Tendencias en el uso de inteligencia artificial en el ejercicio periodístico: una mirada cualitativa a la experiencia en medios de comunicación en Chile
Abstract
Elements that today seem as obvious as interactivity and immediacy resulting from the incorporation of technologies have introduced new trends and dynamics in journalistic practice. They have also put fundamental aspects of the profession at risk, such as the veracity and contextualization of news events. As a result, now the human teams of the media must have skills to take advantage of the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and face the social and cultural transformations that these offer. To learn about the experience from journalistic practice, the changes in professional practice and the projections in this area, this article qualitatively explores how the process of adoption of AI in Chilean media has developed. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with experts, in this case, six editors of traditional and emerging media that have incorporated it into their journalistic routines. The results show the impact on the speed of traditional processes for content creation, production and distribution, as well as elements such as voice cloning and image adjustments in digital media. However, participants noted resistance on the part of the teams, an aspect that, in part, responds to the need to review - and eventually update - the academic training of social communicators.
