Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to address issues related to the training of parents in the program named “La Mochila Magica”, which is a reading promotion program that have worked for sixteen (16) years in Tachira state. Within its lines of action highlights the value the program gives to the family as the first environment where the child begins to structure his worldview, his thoughts and experiences and acquires his first experiences as a reader and writer shaping their attitudes towards these concepts and processes. Therefore, the parent training is needed through meetings that encourage reflection on the way the child has been taught to read and write over time, mechanical and repetitive with the negative consequences it brings, reflected in the difficulties presented by the citizens to serve effectively as autonomous users of literacy. Through meetings is shown to parents that there is another way to learn to read and write, which is far from the primers, spelling, or repetition exercises better known as lines and is closer to the functional use of the written language. Meetings for parents and training areas are described in this article and the experience gained in the Early Childhood Education Center “El Martillo”, Paez municipality, Apure state is narrated.
