Abstract
En esta primera década del siglo veintiuno la comunicación e información ha logrado avances tecnológicos permitiendo que todos los ciudadanos accedan al conocimiento de manera directa y gratuita. También se dice que lo ocurrido debe asumirse como una opción que la Sociedad del Conocimiento entrega hoy a los profesionales de la comunicación para ser aprovechada en procesos de cambio social. De la función básica de producir y difundir información, hoy debe dominar y aplicar la convergencia mediática. De hacer actividades operativas y logísticas al interior de departamentos de comunicación en organizaciones corporativas, debe ser un estratega de la comunicación, y de asesor de procesos sociales, se le pide hoy ser un líder público. El presente artículo hace una revisión a estos aspectos y expone cómo se puede aportar al fortalecimiento de estos escenarios.
During the 21st Century's first decade, both information and communication have achieved a technological progress allowing all citizens to directly access knowledge for free. It is also stated that what has happened must be assumed as an option delivered today by Knowledge Society to media professionals, to be utilized in social change processes. From the basic function of producing and spreading information, such professionals must master and apply media convergence today. Concerning operational and logistic activities inside communication departments in corporations, social communication and journalism professionals must be strategists in communication and advising social processes: they are required to be public leaders today. This article reviews these issues and presents how considers what can be contributed to strengthen these scenarios.
