Abstract
In this reflection, a critical analysis of the different conceptions of organization that have emerged to explain these entities is made with reference to some of the organizational metaphors proposed by Morgan (1996). The latter is complemented by the contributions of theories and authors of the study of management and organizations. It is argued that the vision of the organization as a system is the closest to describe what today's organizations face: complexity, uncertainty and constant change. Finally a concept of organization by the author is proposed and the theoretical basis on which it is based is discussed.
