Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the effect of canon and royalties on extreme poverty by regions in Peru from 2012 to 2022. Data was identified and collected from the Central Reserve Bank. The analysis focused on three regions. Econometric models using ordinary least squares were applied. The p-values and R-squared values were used for validation. The analysis utilized E-Views software. Extreme poverty in the coastal region decreased between 2012 and 2019 but increased in 2020 due to the pandemic. In the Sierra, it was 6 to 9 times higher than in the coast. In the Selva, it was lower than in the Sierra and higher than in the coast. The models showed high R-squared values indicating excellent fit. Canon and royalties significantly reduce extreme poverty in Peru by regions.
