Abstract
Este estudio etnobotánico realizado en la región de Lomerío, fisiográficamente incluida en el Escudo Brasileño y conocida como la Chiquitanía, entrevistó a hombres y mujeres de tres comunidades chiquitanas con el objetivo de rescatar el saber tradicional de las plantas útiles. 207 especies de plantas tanto silvestres como cultivadas son utilizadas, las plantas medicinales y alimenticias tienen el mayor número de especies.
This ethnobotanical study was undertaken in the Lomerío región, which is physiographically included in the Brazilian Shield and is known as the Chiquitanía. With the objective of preserving traditional botanical knowledge, interviews were conducted that included men and women informants. 207 plants wild as well as cultivated species are used by the chiquitanian communities. Plants with medicinal and food purposes represent the majority of the useful species.
