Abstract
Knowledge about felids in Bolivia is so poor that even the exact number of species occurring in the country is yet unknown. Most of the studies published on felids in Latin America refer to the domestic cat and to diseases related subjects, making more studies a priority, specially on the population ecology and behavior of the species. Only three protected areas in Bolivia seem to be sufficient to harbour viable populations of the two most area-demanding species. Conservation of felids, specially pumas and jaguars, must consider special programs outside the protected areas.
