Abstract
Este artículo examina el método de seguimiento de procesos en Políticas Públicas, explorando sus orígenes, variantes, fases, calidad científica, así como sus fortalezas y debilidades. Se lleva a cabo un exhaustivo análisis del estado del arte y la bibliografía más relevante que ha explicado o empleado este método. El seguimiento de procesos emerge como una herramienta invaluable para la evaluación de políticas públicas, especialmente cuando se persigue comprender los mecanismos causales y evaluar intervenciones intangibles. No obstante, se destaca la importancia de reconocer sus limitaciones y emplearlo de manera adecuada, como se detalla en las conclusiones.
This article examines the process tracing method in public policy. It explores the method's origins, variants, phases, scientific merit, and strengths and weaknesses. It was implemented an exhaustive analysis of the current state of the art and the most relevant literature that has explained or employed this method. Process tracing is an invaluable tool for evaluating public policies, particularly when seeking to understand causal mechanisms and assess intangible interventions. However, as detailed in the conclusions, it is essential to acknowledge and employ them method's limitations appropriately.
