Premature birth, despite all efforts, constitutes a significant clinical impact, in addition to being a problem and monetary expense for Public Health due to its implications. The costs involved per premature newborn are very high, because it requires comprehensive and multidisciplinary management in the short and long term, in addition to being an essential component of perinatal morbidity and mortality. There are many factors that intervene from maternal, fetal, placental and psychosocial problems. It has been shown that adequate prenatal check-ups where it can be detected early and managed can prevent short- and longterm complications. However, the very fact of being premature, much more if extremely, requires extensive management that entails high costs and maintenance for Bolivian Health. As missionaries in Health, it is our obligation to detect mothers with threat of premature birth and thus be able to refer them to a 3rd level center for management by Neonatology. In recent decades, through universal health insurance, it has been possible to detect pregnant mothers with threats of prematurity who have been managed in NICUs.
