Abstract

The University is an institution that is involved in the social, economic and cultural development of society; but to fulfill such commitment, it must work hard in function of the execution of the basic university processes, namely, teaching, research and extension. When these processes are related to each other, they respond to the unification of each of the main functions of the university for the achievement of its objectives. This article analyzes the leadership and commitment of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the Universidad Mayor Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca for 80 years, linking teaching, research and extension activities. It is a descriptive field study, which analyzes the leadership and commitment of the aforementioned faculty, involving its actors, such as: departmental authorities, teachers, researchers, students and society in general. It is based on different theoretical about the processes, university, challenges, and challenges faced by the universities and the role of leadership styles university, as well as, in the Memory of the 80 years of Leadership and Commitment of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the Universidad mayor Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca. The analysis shows that eighty years of existence, find a strong and consolidated Faculty, with a highly qualified teaching staff, with inter-institutional relations at local, national and international levels, embodied in cooperation agreements in the academic, research and extension and interaction fields, with a Postgraduate Faculty Unit, and with sufficient infrastructure and equipment to provide the appropriate environment for the development of the optional activities. It is concluded that the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences is on the path of excellence and quality that has been proposed to achieve at the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca, thanks to the committed work of those who make up this faculty unit.
