Calidad de vida en adultos mayores portadores de prótesis dental de la comunidad Mucuy Baja, Mérida, Venezuela

Abstract

Quality of life is defined as the subjective evaluation and the perception of people about their physical well-being, mental health, social condition and religious beliefs. It depends on people’s values, beliefs, cultures, ages and social groups. Objective: to describe the perception of life quality related to oral health in elderly patients with dental prosthesis. Materials and Methods: In this study population consisted of residents from the Community Mucuy Baja, Municipality Santos Marquina, Tabay, Merida State, who wore removable denture. Results: Participants of this reported feeling that their quality of life was not considerably affected by the use of dental prosthesis. Patients wearing dentures indicated a low level of satisfaction with the use of their full dentures, especially with their aesthetical aspect.
