Abstract
Los diseños curriculares universitarios desempeñan un papel fundamental en la formación de individuos capaces de contribuir al desarrollo humano de las comunidades locales. Estos diseños no solo definen qué se enseña en las instituciones educativas, sino que también, tienen el potencial de influir en la dirección y el enfoque de las políticas públicas destinadas a promover el desarrollo humano sostenible. En este artículo, se explora cómo los diseños curriculares universitarios pueden ser concebidos y ejecutados como políticas públicas efectivas para el desarrollo humano de las comunidades locales, examinando ejemplos, investigaciones y teorías relevantes en el campo. A modo de conclusión, se propone un instrumento de análisis basado en el enfoque de capacidades que una vez aplicado por las instituciones de educación superior ofrecerá información útil para orientar los perfiles profesionales de los graduados de acuerdo con las características del enfoque de capacidades.
