Emponzoñamiento escorpiónico en pacientes atentidos en el Hospital de Santa Cruz de Mora, Mérida, Venezuela

Abstract

A restrospective study was made on 199 patients with scorpion envenomation attending the Hospital I of Santa Cruz de Mora, Merida, Venezuela, between 1 January 1997 and 31 December 2001, with the objective of determine the frequency distribution of age, month, year, sex and treatment. There was a significant decrease of cases in the initial and final years, remaining high in the middle years. There were 104 (53.26 %) males and the highest age group was the 15-25 years (16.08 %) followed by 25-35 years (15.07 %). The treatment most frequently used was antiinflamatory analgesics
