El comportamiento ambiental en estudiantes de educación superior: una revisión de alcance

Abstract
La conducta ambiental en los estudiantes universitarios es esencial para comprender cómo los jóvenes interactúan con su entorno y desarrollan hábitos sostenibles. El objetivo fue analizar el estado de los artículos científicos originales sobre comportamiento ambiental de los estudiantes universitarios entre el 2019 a junio de 2024. La metodología empleada consistió en un análisis de estudios recientes y relevantes sobre el tema en las bases de datos Scopus, Wos, Scielo, MDPI, SpringerLink, y Wiley Online Library, utilizando una revisión de alcance para examinar el volumen de publicaciones y los temas tratados. Se analizaron artículos que abordan las políticas institucionales, la integración de la sostenibilidad en el currículo académico y las percepciones individuales de los estudiantes. Entre los resultados del estudio, se destaca un incremento significativo en la cantidad de publicaciones recientes sobre el comportamiento ambiental de los estudiantes, indicando un creciente interés en el tema. Se observa que las universidades con políticas de sostenibilidad efectivas tienden a tener estudiantes más comprometidos con prácticas ambientales, ya que dichas políticas influyen en la percepción de los estudiantes sobre la importancia de la sostenibilidad. Además, la inclusión de temas ambientales en el currículo académico es crucial para desarrollar una mayor conciencia y compromiso entre los estudiantes. El estudio concluye que, para fomentar un comportamiento ambiental positivo, es fundamental que las instituciones educativas integren políticas sostenibles, un currículo inclusivo y una cultura que valore la sostenibilidad.
Environmental behavior in college students is essential to understand how young people interact with their environment and develop sustainable habits. The objective was to analyze the status of original scientific articles on environmental behavior of college students between 2019 to June 2024. The methodology employed consisted of an analysis of recent and relevant studies on the topic in the Scopus, Wos, Scielo, MDPI, SpringerLink, and Wiley Online Library databases, using a scoping review to examine the volume of publications and topics covered. Articles addressing institutional policies, integration of sustainability into the academic curriculum, and individual student perceptions were analyzed. Among the results of the study, a significant increase in the number of recent publications on students' environmental behavior stands out, indicating a growing interest in the topic. It is observed that universities with effective sustainability policies tend to have students more committed to environmental practices, since such policies influence students' perception of the importance of sustainability. In addition, the inclusion of environmental issues in the academic curriculum is crucial to develop greater awareness and engagement among students. The study concludes that, in order to foster positive environmental behavior, it is essential for educational institutions to integrate sustainable policies, an inclusive curriculum, and a culture that values sustainability.
