Arqueología y patrimonio en la identidad de Ámerica Latina

Abstract

El proceso identitario de America Latina en la colonizacion debe ser considerado componente esencial, asi como algunos de los recursos utilizados por ella. Para esto, se relacionara la produccion de conocimiento cientifico, especificamente el arqueologico, con la reproduccion de valores y afectos dados por categorias tales como la de patrimonio que luego seran traducidos en simbolica social, y en identidad. La construccion de la historia e identidad de los paises de America Latina se configuro en la exterioridad siendo el discurso arqueologico, uno de los instrumentos legitimos de ese proceso. La Arqueologia, en sus inicios, era la disciplina habitual para conocer el pasado del hombre por medio de vestigios materiales, por lo que a traves de ella, se podia ejercer cierto control sobre la historia, desplegando significados segun el interes de los grupos dominantes. El Patrimonio Cultural como categoria, fue y ha sido muchas veces manipulado para perpetuar el colonialismo, ya que se encuentra directamente asociado a la destruccion o conservacion del registro arqueologico. Los bienes culturales tangibles e intangibles son la representacion de una significacion otorgada, es decir, que son una construccion subjetiva la cual puede servir de testigo tanto de la situacion cultural, como reflejo de la consciencia social. ?Hay consciencia en America Latina de la situacion cultural privilegiada que tiene, como albacea de la humanidad?
