Economía popular y solidaria en la comuna San José de Cocotog, Quito:estudio de la producción del cuy
Abstract
This article contributes to the interpretation of the popular and solidarity economic of the
peri-urban communes of Quito, through the study of the commune San Jose de Cocotog
and guinea pig breeding. The results indicate that in this population the economy, culture
and society are not des-imbricated, the commoner population articulates the tradition
and modernity in their economic practices, besides, it is in a transition process where
the reproduction of certain products, go to a production of mercantile economy simple.
The methodology used was qualitative, essentially, the ethnographic method. We applied
semi-structured interviews to commoners recognized as the largest producers the guinea pig, and we applied for a period of three months, the technique of participant observation.
