Abstract
Students shows different degrees of adaptability to the university, many of them doesn't adapt quickly and effectively, generating low performance, repetition, desertion and prolonged stay in the university. Adaptability is the ability to respond adequately to the demands of the environment, regulating the behavior to achieve homeostasis through complementary mechanisms of assimilation and accommodation. This study aims to determine the effect on academic performance adaptability through a test of adaptability, focused on the didactics categories. This test were applied to 89 students of the statistic subject and it was found that 6.7% of students have low adaptability. Besides academic performance is closely linked to adjustment coefficient (0.6595**) and its highest incidence occurs atthe beginning of the semester, then its effect decreases.
