Habilidades sociales y rendimiento académico en adolescentes de secundaria

Abstract
El bajo rendimiento escolar evidenciado en el sistema educativo ecuatoriano según los datos aportados por el Ineval (Instituto Nacional de Evaluación Educativa), motiva la investigación de esta problemática. El estudio planteó analizar las relaciones entre habilidades sociales y el rendimiento académico de los alumnos de Educación Secundaria de un centro educativo de la ciudad de Loja, con edades comprendidas entre los 16 y 18 años. La metodología empleada para el análisis de la información se constituye mediante el diseño descriptivo. La muestra considerada en el estudio estuvo constituida por 91 estudiantes de segundo de bachillerato. Los instrumentos de medida utilizados fueron el test EHS Escala de Habilidades Sociales, y el registro acumulativo de calificaciones de cada uno de los alumnos participantes. Se concluye que, el nivel de habilidades sociales alto se relaciona con rendimiento académico alto, mientras que el nivel de habilidades sociales bajo se relaciona con niveles de rendimiento académico bajo.

In such virtue; the study proposed to analyze the relationships between social skills and academic performance of Secondary Education students from an educational center in the city of Loja, aged between 16 and 18 years. The methodology used for the analysis of the information is constituted by the descriptive design. The sample considered in the study consisted of 91 second year high school students. The measurement instruments used were the EHS Social Skills Scale test, and the cumulative record of qualifications of each of the participating students. It is concluded that the high level of social skills is related to high academic performance, while the low level of social skills is related to low levéis of academic performance
